Your garden plan stays on your device
Your frost date, the crops you choose, any crops you add yourself and the tasks you tick off are stored in your browser’s local storage under the key seed-window:v1. They are not sent to us or to anyone else. Clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
Exports (the .ics calendar file, CSV and PDF) are created in your browser and saved straight to your device. If you import the .ics file into a calendar service, that service’s own privacy terms apply.
No accounts or ads; aggregate visit counts
This site has no accounts, loads no advertising scripts and does not use Google Analytics. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a small script Cloudflare adds to the page to count visits and measure page speed in aggregate. Cloudflare states that it does not use cookies or local storage for this and does not fingerprint visitors (cloudflare.com/web-analytics, read 21 October 2026). Your frost date, crops and ticked tasks are not sent with it. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical request data such as IP address and browser type to deliver the pages.
ZIP code frost lookup
When you look up a ZIP code, your browser downloads one small data file from this site named after the first three digits of the ZIP (for example /frost/100.json for 10001) and picks your ZIP out of it locally. The full ZIP code is not sent and is not saved. Like any page request, the download is processed by our host, Cloudflare, as described above.
Links to other sites
The calculator links to seed company, university extension and weather pages so you can check sources and find your frost date. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
Plan libraries and backups
Named plans, custom crops and completed tasks are stored in this browser. Download backup saves a JSON file on your device. Import reads your selected file locally and shows the plans before adding copies; it does not upload the file. Archived plans remain in browser storage and in backups. Clearing browser storage removes local plans, so keep a downloaded backup if you need them.
